1- LAWSON (British band)
i've been struck by an arrow and i'm currently drooling over this new band Lawson. they started with the song 'Taking Over Me' which totally knocked me off my feet. the song is so catchy and i love this part so much.
"I'll fix your broken heart,
I'll make it beat again,
I'll never let you down, on me you can depend,
And I tell her that we'll always be this way"
and of course they didn't stop just there. they went on with a rather touchy song 'Standing in The Dark' which is very sweet. and latest, 'She Was Mine' which made me all emo all of a sudden. these guys were able to let us feel what they were feeling in a song. and 'She Was Mine' was actually based on a previous relationship of Andy (the lead singer) with Mollie King (from The Saturdays). and i love them!
2- Ne-Yo
There's no doubt that Ne-Yo is by far one of the best male singers of all time. his vocal range can reach up so high that it brings chills to me. He started with 'So Sick' back then, a rather safe and steady song. and then he crawled his way up to catchy songs like 'Sexy Love' and 'Hate That I Love You'. and now, he's really playing his moves. 'One In A Million' and 'Let Me Love You' are my all time favourites. but if you are still doubting this singer's capabilities, listen to his track with Jennifer Hudson 'Think Like A Man'. i went Ga-Ga once i heard Ne-Yo's parts. it was cool, slick and impressive. collaborating with Jennifer Hudson who has an incredible voice could be challenging, but he proved me wrong. in certain parts of the song, you could hear Ne-Yo's voice rather clear, instead of him just sinking under J-Hud's voice. plus, he has a track alongside Conor Maynard, 'Turn Around', which i absolutely love. check it out! I also think Ne-Yo is the only one who can rock the hat style. *heart skips a beat*
3- One Direction
when these boys hit the radio with 'One Thing' i thought they are just some bunch of boys who have the looks and not so much on the vocals. but after hearing 'Gotta Be You', i was impressed. here's a little confession. i don't trust just anybody who can sing, i would watch them sing in front of a live audience, and if they impress me then, you've officially stolen my heart. so, i did check One Direction perform the song 'Gotta Be You' live on X-Factor and they rocked it. i could see Harry Styles with his cheeks burning, trying his very best to make sure the notes come out right. that's when i believe that these guys can really sing. their latest song 'Little Things' is a sweet sweet song. but by far, judging on their vocals, i'd vote for 'Gotta Be You'.
4- Jason Derulo & Chris Brown
i know i shouldn't put them together and that i'm suppose to assess them separately, but i couldn't help but put them in the same category. you know what? listening to these guys on radio, and they're awesome. their vocals are rather high, Jason always go for the highest pitch, which creeps me out! but on live performances, they prefer to dance like the world's gonna end in a minute. so, they don't sing that much on stage. can't blame them can i?
they wanna make their fans feel it's worth the price of the tickets for their shows. and i tell you, they rock their moves on any live performances. sadly, you can't appreciate their vocals...
by far, i really enjoy listening to all of Jason's tracks. 'Breathing' and 'Fight For You' are the best! Brown's tracks are catchy and nice. but i really enjoy listening to 'Don't Judge Me', maybe because it's a little personal. and yes, he did a great job delivering the song.
so, yeah, that's pretty much about it. i can't really talk about Westlife, because i've made one whole post just for Westlife. but yea, they have great vocals...
P/S: i dreamt of Merlin in my sleep. and no idea how or why, but i did touch his hands. his hands were cold and slightly clammy, but he held my hand in front of my friends. AWWHHH~
