just a pretty face

Assalamualaikum readers. i know it's been awhile since i blogged. i was so caught up in my study weeks and exams that i didn't have time to blog. *well, actually, i held myself from blogging* i hope you guys pray for my results, hope everything goes well.
today, i would like to share with you my thoughts on actresses who use or are being used for their pretty face. i know im being a little dramatic here, but hey, you can't deny one who is going a little  too over the top in acting, right?
these past week, i watched a Malay movie, "Lagenda Budak Setan 2: Katerina" with a friend in the airport, because we went there 2 hours earlier than we usually do. as i was watching the movie, i thought to myself, 'OMG! what is she doing?' the actress (obviously a Muslim) was hugging and kissing the guy on the cheek. i understand she's playing the role of a strong, powerful, modern, successful entrepreneur, but it's a bit too much for me. to me, even if these scenes were deleted, nothing's going to change the whole story, so why bother? what's the point in wasting 3-4 minutes here and there with these scenes, when you could spare these few minutes in more rational stuff, like emotions from the father (Farid Kamil) who's only child is dying or more on the love story between the lead actress and her ex-boyfriend, how were their lives before she found him cheating behind her back. things would have had a whole different dimension.
but, again, who am i to say all of these? i know nobody's perfect, but this is not the first movie i've encountered with so much to complain, instead of compliments. i guess that's exactly what people want: touching, affections, passion between two love birds. *rolls eyes*
i'm not taking sides and i'm certainly not the type who goes around ditching Malay movies and supports the Hollywood movies. NO! i support movies i enjoy, movies that really have some meaning and moral values behind it. yes, i do watch a lot of movies, but not all movies leave me with an impact that says, 'WOW! this movie deserves an award' all the time.
i do not enjoy watching Fairly Legal, because of Kate Reed, the role played by Sarah Shahi. Kate has been running away from problems since season 1. her dad died, and she hates her stepmother, divorce from Justin and her job as a mediator was too much for her. okay, i get it! but how long will one run away from her problems? she is so good at mediating other people, she should be mediating herself instead! i got so fed up almost at the end of season 1, i swore to myself i wouldn't watch Season 2. but i did watch, because there's nothing on TV. and guess what? i still hate her! bottom line is, i do not enjoy Fairly Legal.
see, i'm not taking sides. i watch everything with an empty mind. whatever people say about the movie doesn't affect this young lady. people may say it's a lovely movie and by the time i watch it, i'm like, 'whattt???' or some may say it's a boring movie, please don't watch it, and maybe after i watch it, i go, 'Hey, that was a fantastic movie!'
then, i came across Fear Factor Selebriti Malaysia. among the celebs who were in the show, there were a few that i really support, because they were talented singers and actors. and then there was this girl, Elfira Loy. she's young, around my age, and she's an actress. she has been taking part in so many dramas and shows and i wonder why did they pick her into this show. i just don't see her playing a role in the show, besides screaming in delight that she has not been electrified or jumping around like a nut-case because her team's time was one of the fastest. *maybe people do like drama?* i know i watched only two episodes, and i might be judging her for the wrong thing, but based on what i have been seeing in the two episodes, she was in the lead, thanks to her partner, Ajak, a male comedian. Elfira was behind Ajak in one of the challenges, which was to escape from getting electrocuted. seems to me that Ajak was the one who kindda saved her from getting electrified. and then, the other challenge was to drive a manual car up a moving truck, blindfolded. the task was very challenging, but guess who was the one blindfolded? AJAK! how can she be facing her fears when she was the one sitting at the passenger's side giving instructions? i just don't get it!
okay, i would want to stop here, instead of going on about this. i don;t get anything from this, do i? i just need a medium to channel all my feelings.

P/S: my mum told me she would never let her grandchildren watch Malay movies. but i told her i would want them to watch Malay movies, but ONLY after i've watched them. they will never get the chance to watch the movies by themselves without my guidance. seems like all Malay movies and dramas need parental guidance nowadays. haizz...
