SPM done-what to do now?

Assalamualaikum, readers. this entry in dedicated to those who have just finished high school, probably waiting for your SPM results, and who are confused of all the application forms offered by the government.
here's a little something for you, it's very basic, and i'll let you know in my point of view.
So what options do we have exactly after SPM?
1- Diploma
2- Matriculation
3- Foundation
4- Teaching (Maktab)
*is there any more?*
okay. now we've got that laid down. what next? how do you know that's the right thing for you? let's break it down one by one alright?

1. Diploma
- it's a 3-year course, you can pick any course you want, there's tonnes of it
- once you've graduated, you can apply for jobs, even without a Degree in your hand
- however, you'll get bored of the same payment by the company, and you can't actually get better pay unless you have a Degree
- but, if you're the type who loves the work instead of studying, this is your thing

2. Matriculation
- it's a 1-year course in a college
- you will not be studying in a university just yet, but you're one step closer
- the environment in a college is pretty much like a school-university, somewhere in between. you need to wear formal clothes to class, 8am to 5pm classes daily
- you call your lecturers Teacher and Miss or Mr instead of Dr and Prof
- you have lectures and tutorials (a classroom like environment with the lecturer in front)
- the average age of students in Matriculation is 18-19 years old
- you need to struggle because you only have one year, in you mess up one of the semesters, you pretty much need to work your butt off.
- results from Matriculation determines what course you'll be applying in university for your Degree. bad results meaning you will apply funny courses and maybe there's no job awaiting you once you've graduated. so, study smart!

3. Foundation
- it's a 1-year course in the University
- you are already in the university, studying what students in Matriculation are studying
- environment is totally University-like: you can wear formal to semi-formal clothes to class, 8am-5pm classes probably
- you call your lecturers Dr, Prof according to their titles, FORBIDDEN to call them teacher
- you still have tutorials and lectures
- average age of students in Universities taking Foundation could be 18-20 years old, but in the university, you may even see people as old as 50-60 years studying
- you may have culture shock, because of the age difference among the students in the Universities
- you need to struggle as well, same as Matriculation

4- Teaching (Maktab)
- it's a 5-year course in the Maktab
- totally school-like environment with assembly, and singing the National and State song in the middle of the field every day at 7.30am
- i don't know what they call their lecturers there, but i guess, it's Madam, Miss, Mr
- you have tutorials and lectures
- average age of students studying in the Maktab would be somewhere between 18-24 years old
- you will have a secured job as a teacher in one of the schools
- you will get training in how to stand on front of a classroom of kids and how to teach them. you'll even be put in one of the classes where there are kids in their uniform, and you are supposed to teach them
- however, there's just too much teachers nowadays that some are saying you might end up jobless because there's just too much of them

i guess some of you are still confused about Matriculation and Foundation. it's actually the same, the only thing that differentiates them is the environment: college and university

i hope with this, most of you are more clear about the education system in our country. wish you all the best in whatever you do!
